LORD Horses/Fairies Info Guide: Author: Donald Tidmore For integration into Kiteria's Korner web-site eventually. ====================================================================== The Red Dragon The Red Dragon is a powerful foe. But it has a weakness: Mystical Skill attack. The best combination that you can have when attacking the Red Dragon is a Fairy, a Horse, at least 40 Mystical Skills and Mystical Skill uses, at least four Death Knight Skills and Death Knight Skill uses, weapon-grade 10 (minimum) armour grade-10 (minimum) and 500 Hit Points. Assuming you have that combination, start with the Mystical Skill Shatter. Follow with a Death Knight. Another Death Knight. About this time, the Dragon will inflict enough damage on you that the Fairy will have to revive you. Another Death Knight should be next. Watch your Hit Points, and invoke the Mystical Skill Mind Heal, which restores you to full Hit Points (non-augmented if you had started with JENNIE-HOTT). One more Death Knight should finish off the Dragon, although you may have to use your normal Attack weapon around this time. One of the easiest Dragon kills is if the Dragon attacks your Horse. Then, it's all over but the shouting, for the attack on the Horse automatically kills the Dragon, just as it does any monster you encounter in the Forest. ** Fixed in LORD 4.07. If horse dies, you no longer win the battle with dragon by default. ====================================================================== Source: Kiteria's Korner: Sflord3.htm At any time in the game you can change your skill by going to the DARK CLOAK TAVERN and talking to Chance the barkeep. He will present you with the same choices to select from as you had the first time you entered the game. It's also wise to keep in mind that certain IGM's cater to certain professions, with a horse you can take advantage of all three that are offered, if you have the time to run back and forth to the DARK CLOAK TAVERN to change your skill. I don't consider this cheating, I consider it "maximum utilization of available resources." Note: You can ONLY go to the Tavern, on purpose, if you have a Horse. Otherwise, you have to find it as a Random event in the Forest. ====================================================================== Source: Kiteria's Korner: Lnethelp.htm If I have a horse and fairy, before I enter the game (LordNet), I go to (L)ist Warriors before going to (E)nter the Realm of LordNET. From there I go through the list of players that would fit into my 'one up, one down' bracket and then steal from them. When I have Mastered my Thieving Skill, I will go as high as three levels above my rank, and hope that I hit the ones that thought it was more important to be a Death Knight or Mage before becoming a Thief. I've had the greatest of success with this strategy, and made many late night trip's to another realm and pilfered many bank accounts and/or gotten away with a large amount of gems. All Thieving depends on having two little friends, a horse and a fairy. If you do not have both of these friend's, you are going to be knocked unconscious with your attempt. It's been a running gripe where I play LordNET that horses and fairies are impossible to get in the LORD portion of LordNET. Joseph assures me that it is the 'Fickled Finger of Fate' at work. It has nothing to do with the NET version of the LORD game. ====================================================================== Source: Suzanne Franklin, January 16, 2001 email message: RE: The Horse's effects in LORD game. When you have a horse, you get 5 more forest fights (because you can get around faster). The other value that the horse contributes is in killing the dragon (in pre-v4.07 LORD games). It's a fairly guaranteed success if you have a horse, and a Fairy. With those two things, you don't even have to have the best Weapon and Armour. I did it once with the Nira's Teeth, and the next to the best Armor. But it did kill my horse, and I lost the fairy, after it healed me!! (Reworded 08/24/02.) ====================================================================== Acquiring a Horse: In the forest, the Fairies sometimes bless you by granting you a Horse. But it is completely random. In Turgon's House IGM, in his bedroom, when you find the fairies in the closet, you are allowed to request a horse. The request is usually granted UNLESS you forget and already had one. In L.O.R.D. Cavern, leaving the IGM can result possibly in your gaining a horse. You can also lose one. In the Hidden Spring of Turgon IGM, one option can cause you to lose your horse. One can buy a horse in the Castle Coldrake IGM, and some other IGMs, including Marty's Mercantile (registered game only). If your LORD game features LADY Scripts, you may purchase a Horse for gold from the Horse.ldy script by Michael Preslar. My own Gem Trader script, and the Gnome script by Gordon Lewicky, will allow you to buy a Horse using Gems. LADY Scripts are only usable with LORD 4.05pb, 4.06, and 4.07 beta. (Section reworded 08/24/02). ==================================================================== Note: As of late August 2002, LORD 4.07 is still in beta development. It is not available to the general public unless you/they request a copy of the current compile beta archive, betalord.zip. For details, see http://www.lordlegacy.org/camelot/ccigm-12.htm, and Search for the "Acquiring LORD 4.07 beta" paragraph. ====================================================================== Prism (#00843), using BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag-3 Message #263, LORD (L.O.R.D. Door Game Discussion) From: Michael Luko To: All Date: 9th January, 2001 at 11:17 Subject:Horse For as long as I have been playing lord and reading FAQs and this conference I never until today made the connection of the increased forest fights at the start of the game to the horse. I thought it was just at random. I set up a test character and found out the increase is 25 percent of (the base fights set by sysop plus the number of fights the kids give you). It also doesn't matter whether you are in high or low spirits. This fact may be old and documented somewhere but I never came across it. --- QScan/PCB v1.20a / 01-0462 * Origin: Christian Fellowship | Mt.
